Reporting to the Director of IT, Commercial & Medical Affairs Applications, the IT Manager, Commercial & Medical Affairs Applications will play a pivotal role in our first commercial product launch by ensuring that all supporting IT systems are robust, integrated, and aligned with our business goals. The qualified candidate will plan, implement, and support key business applications for Commercial Launch, including corporate learning management systems, patient services platforms, promotional content management, and medical affairs publication systems. They will also be responsible for ensuring alignment with upstream and downstream systems across the Commercial and Medical Affairs application ecosystem.
This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
- Collaborate with IT Leadership to plan and implement Commercial and Medical Affairs business applications
- Develop and manage project plans and timelines for new Commercial IT systems, ensuring on-time implementation of launch-critical capabilities
- Gather and document user requirements (URS) and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for commercial IT applications to validate that solutions meet business needs and quality standards
- Lead integration efforts for key commercial systems – for example, integrating the ACTO LMS with external content providers, and connecting the promotional materials management system (Veeva PromoMats) with our CRM and Regulatory Information Management (RIM) systems – to ensure seamless data flow and user experience
- Provide ongoing administration and technical support for commercial IT applications, including the Publications Management System, Patient Services Hub, and PromoMats. Ensure high availability, timely issue resolution, and strong user adoption for these systems
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, integration processes, requirements, test plans, and support procedures
- Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans for critical systems
- Ensure all commercial IT systems adhere to relevant compliance and security standards, following any required validation or risk assessment procedures
- Work closely with cross-functional teams – Commercial Operations, Medical Affairs, Corporate IT, and external vendors/partners – to align technology solutions with launch objectives
- Facilitate user training and change management efforts to smoothly introduce new systems into the organization
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Commercial IT Applications Management in Biotech or pharmaceutical companies
- BS/BA in Information Technology or related field required
- Experience with commercial IT systems such as Learning Management Systems, CRM platforms, content management or promotional materials systems (e.g., Veeva PromoMats), and other software supporting commercial or medical affairs functions
- Strong understanding of gathering business requirements and overseeing UAT to ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose
- Excellent project management skills with an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
- Proactive team player with a high degree of initiative and a willingness to “go the extra mile” to ensure successful product launch support
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to handle multiple tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong commitment to ethical standards
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
- Ability to travel up to 5%
- The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
